YONKERS 'ECO WHIZ' PUTS QUEENS FIRST
12th August 2010
Yonkers 'Eco Whiz', Sheila Hughes, is putting Queens first - no, not Queens, New York; but Queen's University, Belfast, one Europe's top universities! Ms. Hughes, the daughter of Yonkers businessman, Brendan Hughes, joins the university at the end of September to study for an exclusive Masters Degree in Environmental Management. During the past year, Sheila has been assisting Re3's Chief Executive Officer, Professor Deborah Boyd, and she loves Ireland so much, she has decided to make it her academic home.My dad is from Tyrone and my mother is from Mayo and I've been lucky enough to spend most of my summers here." Sheila said. "I've always wanted to live in Ireland and my opportunity came when Re3 offered me a placement, in Ireland, helping to develop and promote the company's revolutionary, new, waste recycling technology. Over the past 12 months, I've watched Re3 develop and grow and, you know, it's really good to be able to say I helped play a small part in that." Sheila says exploring new and innovative environmental technologies with Professor Boyd, has been an "incredible experience" but now, "it's time to study." "I want to build on the experience I've gained with Professor Boyd and Re3. A Master's Degree from Queen's will take my knowledge to new level and that means I can bring it all back to Re3 and help build the business here and in the USA." she added. Photography available.
